How will online bidders know that some or all items are continuing on to a live event?

Last Updated: Aug 07, 2015 12:32PM EST

There are a few ways online bidders will know you have a live event associated with your online auction.

  1. To inform your bidders of the event itself, it’s best to include the event information on your auction home page and in e-mail blasts.
  2. In regards to letting bidders know about online-to-live items, there are a couple of ways they will be notified:
    • All items marked as Live Event items will include the text “This Live Event Item offers Absentee Bidding” or “This is a Live Event Item”, depending on whether or not you have enabled Absentee Bidding (under Event > Event Dates).
    • At the end of your online auction, the current leading bidders will receive an e-mail with the subject “Your Bid at the Live Event”. This email will say one of two things depending on whether or not Absentee Bidding is enabled:

WITH ABSENTEE BIDDING

“At our live event auction on <date/time>, your Leading Bid of $_____ will start off bidding for this item. Your Absentee Bid As bidding continues for this item, a member of our auction team will bid for you up to your Absentee Bid (Maximum Bid Amount) of $_____. If you win this item, you will be notified."

NO ABSENTEE BIDDING

“At our live event auction on <date/time>, your Leading Bid of $_____ will start off bidding for this item.
If your Leading Bid turns out to be the Winning Bid at the conclusion of the live event auction, you will be notified.
(Your Maximum Bid will not be used in bidding for this item at the live event. Be sure to attend our live auction to continue bidding on this item.)”
